The Hohe Tauern National Park is one of the most magnificent high-mountain landscapes on Earth and the largest national park in Central Europe.
The different altitude zones, from the valleys up to the summit regions of the three-thousand-meter peaks, represent an extraordinary richness of species. Many plants and wild animals live here, originally coming from the Central Asian cold steppes, the Arctic, or Southern Europe.
Our mission as a national park is to protect this unique ecosystem, to study it, and to pass on knowledge to future generations. Discover this fascinating wilderness in the heart of Europe!
