On 10th-12th October 2017 the high level representatives from the seven countries of the Carpathian Convention will gather in Lillafüred, Hungary and meet many stakeholders from the region, as well as from the European and international levels.
The Conference of the Parties is the main decision-making body of the Carpathian Convention. The Fifth Meeting (COP5) will address different issues and topics such as the adoption of a new Protocol on Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development, the inclusion of a new Article 12bis on “Climate Change” and a high-level panel discussion on the future of the Carpathian region.
The Conference will also host the meetings concerning the implementation of the thematic protocols already adopted in the framework of the Carpathians Convention (i.e. the Protocol on Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological and Landscape Diversity, the Protocol on Sustainable Forest Management and the Protocol on Sustainable Tourism).
The event is going to be a relevant step to further strengthen sustainable development and ensure the protection of biological, landscape and cultural diversity in the Carpathian region.
