ALPARC – the Alpine network of protected areas – is taking on a new shape and becoming an association. The green light was given at the network's general assembly, which was held in Poschiavo, Switzerland. A constituent assembly will take place in January 2013 (18/01/2013) in tandem with the commemorative Danilo Re Meet in the Vanoise National Park in France. Please mark the date in your diaries.
We wanted to combine the association's formal creation with one of our most popular events, which is always co-organised jointly by ALPARC and the host park. This way the new-look network will begin life as we hope it will go on: at the heart of the action.
ALPARC will continue to provide services and projects for protected areas in the Alps. In future, we will be able to do even more to plead the cause of Alpine protected areas at the centre of Europe: all working together for the Alps.
Alain Brandeis, Vice-President of the Alpine Network of Protected Areas (ALPARC)
