Dear friends

As the International Year of Biodiversity, 2010 has been full of projects, activities and times of incredible teamwork. We want to thank you for all your input. The recent ALPARC General Assembly in the Swiss National Park provided an opportunity to meet many network members and also saw the election of the new International Steering Committee. Some individuals will be staying to accompany ALPARC on its journey over the next two years. They will have a vital role to play in shaping the development of the network, its bodies and structure as we try to better meet the needs of Alpine protected areas and to strengthen the huge extended family of Alpine parks and reserves going forward.

The network needs you to contribute to this shared task. We have an exciting programme of activities scheduled for 2011, which was approved at the General Assembly in Switzerland. We are of course always ready and willing to provide information and assistance in relation to your day-to-day work.
We would like to wish you a very merry Christmas and a new year full of health, happiness and a passion for cooperation between all protected areas in the Alps in 2011.

Guido Plassmann, Director Task Force Protected Areas - SPCA
